Public outrage over DEPs 8 hr comment period for the proposed radical weakening of Florida’s water quality standards has led to an extension of time to get comments submitted until March 4th. See notice below.

Thank you to everyone who sent emails to the DEP to protest this unreasonable timeframe for commenting on one of the most serious assaults on public health protections in DEP’s history.  Watch this site or our Facebook pages for a sign-on letter/comments to DEP and the Governor.

The Department has extended the opportunity for public comment for the current Triennial Review of state surface water quality standards to March 4, 2013.  We appreciate all of the public comments that we have received thus far.  Draft rules, copies of the latest public workshop PowerPoint presentations, a revised draft Numeric Nutrient Criteria Implementation Document, and revised draft Technical Support Documents for both Dissolved Oxygen and Human Health-based Criteria are available for download on our website at

Please let me know if you have any questions about the documents.
