Here is a link to a fantastic op-ed by Robert Knight about the state of Florida’s springs.  They are drying up and are choked with algae and yet our state Department of Environmental Protection tell us they are doing great.  The water management districts keep issuing consumptive use permits.  Industries like Buckeye take up to 90 million gallons of water from the aquifer EVERY DAY and pay nothing for it, while wells in Taylor County dry up.  What’s wrong with this picture?  Ask your elected officials.  Their answers may reveal the source of the problem.
